Elizabeth Lenz Elementary School History

Elizabeth Lenz served as a Washoe County School District Trustee for fourteen years from 1966-1980. She was the first woman to be president of the School Board, the first woman chairman of the Regional Planning Commission, and the first woman to be appointed chairman of the Washoe County Board of Equalization. Mrs. Lenz was a founder of Young Audiences, a group who brought musical performances to the area schools, and was active in most music organizations in the area.  Her seven children were all talented musicians, as well. In 1974 Elizabeth Lenz was named Nevada Mother of the Year.
