Rita Cannan Elementary School History

Rita (pronounced Rit-ah)* Cannan, for whom the school is named, was a dedicated educator in Washoe County for 29 years. She taught fith& sixth grades at Mary S. Doten School and was appointed as principal of Doten in 1932 and held that position for 27 years until 1959. She also taught in Round Mountain, NV, in Goldfield, NV and in Columbia, WV.
